Wyvern’s Land in London

On Friday 16th June 2023, a number of members of Wyvern Chapter of the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association travelled from Somerset to London to witness their President, Bro Jim “Royal” Hayward, become the Worshipful Master of Ceylon Lodge No.6436.

This is a very special occasion for any brother but, on this occasion, it was made even more special as the current and Installing Master was Jim’s Dad, Pete.  The family occasion was added to by the fact that Jim’s Grandfather was also a member of Ceylon Lodge and his brother, Tom, is the Senior Warden.

The Widows Sons were there in great numbers, with 14 members representing no less than 8 Provinces (Somerset, Gloucestershire, Bristol, Devon, Essex, Bedfordshire, Surrey and Kent) and Wyvern were particularly honoured by being asked to take part as the Senior Warden (WBro Harry “Riff” Blinston), the Junior Warden (WBro Michael “Gunny” O’Meara) and the Inner Guard (WBro Pete Russell).

The ceremony was conducted in the presence of distinguished guests, such as the Metropolitan Grand Inspector and the Chairman of The Widows Sons MBA.

As you can imagine, it was a very emotional day with family and close friends all being absolutely delighted to see WBro Jim take the Chair, due to Covid, it has been 3 years in the waiting and so an event that has been eagerly anticipated by everyone.  WBro Pete ran the meeting in exemplary fashion and, from the way in which WBro Jim installed his officers, it is very obvious that the quality of ritual will continue to be second to none.

Congratulations, WBro Jim, on attaining the Chair and we wish you all the very best for the ensuing year.
