By varying degrees
Brother Dinos, an undergraduate at the University of Bath, joined St Alphege Lodge through the Universities Scheme and has recently become a Master Mason.
The Universities Scheme, a pioneering attempt by the United Grand Lodge of England, was established to help forge links between well placed enthusiastic Lodges and the many students seeking to become involved in freemasonry.
Since joining the Scheme in 2007 St Alphege Lodge has been very fortunate in attracting many bright and enthusiastic young men who bring a fresh dynamic to their membership. They do not necessarily keep them for long as most have to leave the area to pursue their careers; although several have stayed loyal to their Mother Lodge, attend regularly and still hold office.
The Lodge has also recently benefitted by receiving a Joining Member from Hotspur Lodge, another Scheme Lodge in Newcastle, and he is currently their Junior Deacon.
Their Junior Warden Brother Paul is a Post-Grad PhD Student, also at the University of Bath.
