How many times have you been told you to act your age?

For a staggering 800,000+ young carers aged between 5 and 17 in the UK, and over 2,000 in B&NES alone, a chance would be a fine thing!

This is where the Friends of Young Carers in Bath come in to raise funds in order to support activities where children can be children, if only for a short respite, but in a safe and supported environment.

This worthwhile charity was selected by the worshipful master to be included in St Alphege Lodge’s Centenary charity initiative, and their donation of £4,000 will help fund a residential stay at Magdalen Farm near Chard, for at least 12 children, which will provide a much needed relief from their daily responsibilities.

Claire Abrahams, Senior Service Manager at the Carers’ Centre in Bath, wrote to say “your kind donation will pay for around 12 young carers to take a ‘residential’ break at Magdalen Farm. This gives the Young Carers involved a wonderful opportunity to take a break from their caring role, have fun and just be children for a few days, without the extra responsibility that young carers often take on. We will ensure that young carers who are most in need will be prioritised for this opportunity, ensuring the trip offers the best benefit”.
