Steven’s Poppy Run Success.
As Vice Chairman and Standard Bearer for the Wiveliscombe branch of the Royal British Legion and Charity Steward of Quantock 4446 , Bro. Steven Wort soon realised that the restrictions on ‘street collections’ would severely impact on their Remembrance Day fundraising. So, in true Freemasons’ style, he decided to do something about it – by running 111.1 miles in the Poppy Run Challenge! He achieved this over 3 weeks, culminating with a half marathon of 13.1 miles.
The total distance covered represents the significance of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.
Steven raised an impressive £1730 which included donations from Quantock Lodge and also Loyal Vacation 6209, where he is Senior Warden.
A fantastic achievement!!
