What makes a Mason ?
On Thursday 14th Jan 21, the evening that would have been The Lodge of Science Installation Meeting, the Worshipful Master (W.Bro Jonny Reach), held an on-line meeting entitled “What makes us Freemasons?”
The meeting was based on the Radio 2 series “What makes us Human?” It was open to Lodge Members and invited guests. Attendees were from ‘The Lodge of Science No 437’ as well as the Worshipful Master and Brethren of the Royal Clarence Lodge No 976.
The Worshipful Master initially offered his thoughts on what makes us Freemasons, inviting Brethren to reflect on this subject. Those participating received to a heartfelt, informative and thought-provoking talk.
The Worshipful Master then opened it up the floor for anyone else who wished to comment. We were treated to thoughts and personal experiences by members of our own Lodge and visitors from the Royal Clarence Lodge which were genuinely given and really well received.
Attendees commented that it should feature again in the Lodge in future which Worshipful Master stated certainly plans to do once we are back to attending in person.
W Bro. Kev Aldred also provided an update on the support we are providing provincially in response to Covid-19 and local support we a providing to the Wincanton Food Bank. W Bro Kev also highlighted that fact that many members of the Lodge continue to support our charity fund by donating their normal monthly dining fees so we can continue to help those in need during this dreadful time.
Like many other Lodges formal and informal on-line meetings and quiz’s make up nearly all of our masonic interaction and be a feature of our ‘way of doing business’ for some time to come.
