Square Meals from Bath Freemasons – 13th May Update

A week on from our last bulletin, and with just over a month passed since the first tentative discussions took place on the topic of what Bath Freemasons could do to help during the current Covid Emergency, the resultant Square Meals Initiative to provide free ready meals to the most vulnerable people in our area today delivered the 1,000th meal produced in our kitchens at Bath Masonic Hall.

The meals are being distributed in partnership with B&NES Social Care teams and local charities, all of whom look after the most needy in the area via local centres. These include B&NES Child Support centres in Foxhill, Keynsham and Radstock, Bath City Farm and Southside Centre who cover Whiteway and Twerton, Sporting Family Change in Midsomer Norton and Mercy in Action on the Lower Bristol Road.

A combined effort encompassing the collective logistical and procurement skill of members from across the Lodges active in the city, several of whom have graciously volunteered their time and expertise to help ensure the successful launch of Square Meals from its inception, the scheme is close to securing the requisite funding necessary to guarantee its continuation, and see another 5000 meals produced and distributed by the end of June.
