Rosemary and I started work on our garden soon after we moved here in 2016. First job was to get the gravel paths and patios replaced – much of the gravel had moved down to the bottom of the slopes! Then we set about pruning – and I mean severe pruning – shrubs that had been fighting for space and light for many years. Then adding many more plants to bare areas. This year, lockdown has given us time to rearrange many of the plants and to re-stain garden furniture. Now we can sit, relax and ‘nature watch’. In 4 years, with the help of a feeding station, we have seen 51 bird species in or flying over the garden, plus numerous creepy crawly things and plenty of squirrels.
