Somerset Military Lodge No 10021

Meets at 14:00 on the 3rd Sat Nov, 1st Sat Oct, 4th Sat Feb, May (Installation)

David Medlock, Provincial Grand Master at the time, being keen to promote links between Freemasonry and the Military within the Province, setup a team to create a new lodge, the Somerset Military Lodge No 10021, which was consecrated on 21 May 2022. Part of the rationale was a belief that those who have served in HM Forces have an extra level of appreciation for the camaraderie, education, discipline and support network that Freemasonry can offer.

Eligibility to join includes all serving and retired HM Forces personnel, Reservists and Adult Cadet Staff, although people without a military background will also be considered. The Lodge meets on a Saturday in November, October, February and May and is peripatetic in nature.

It is an essential part of the function of the lodge to support Military Charities, and to try and assist some of the Somerset Military Veterans, be they Masons/Masonic or not. The lodge will also promote an active social calendar and also encourage those leaving the Forces to join Freemasonry, to attempt to fill the void that leaving service life can sometimes cause.
