Connaught Chapter 3573

Consecrated 23rd November 1922 Meets at The Masonic Hall, Redfield Road, Midsomer Norton.

In 1922 nine members of Connaught Lodge No.3573, meeting at Midsomer Norton submitted a Petition seeking permission to create a new Royal Arch Chapter to be attached to their Lodge. Their prayer was granted and a Charter of Constitution authorizing them to form the Connaught Chapter was issued. It was signed by the Grand Scribe E., E. Comp. E. Colville Smith on the 22nd August 1922.  Both Lodge and Chapter are named after H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, who was the third son of Queen Victoria and became Grand Master in 1901 when his brother King Edward VII ascended the throne. He served in this office until his resignation in 1939 at the age of 91 years

The consecration convocation was held at 11.45 am on Thursday 23rd. November 1922 at the Masonic Hall, Midsomer Norton and the Grand Superintendent, E Comp Col William Long conducted the ceremony. He afterward Installed E Comp F Lace of Royal Sussex Chapter as Zerubbabel. The Provincial Second Grand Principal, E Comp Rev T. Hawkes, was unable to be present, although his name appears on the Summons. His place was taken by E Comp Col. A. Thrall Perkins, PGSoj, who Installed E Comp P B Rigg of Dungarvan Chapter as Haggai. The Third Provincial Grand Principal, E Comp H Stenlake, Installed E Comp C R Bishop of Royal Cyrus Chapter as Joshua.
