W.Bro Bob Cole 60 years a Mason

The regular meeting of Southey Lodge on November 15th was a very special evening for one of its’ stalwarts W.Bro Bob Cole who was awarded his 60th Veterans Certificate by the Assistant PGM W.Bro Martin Slocombe.

W.Bro Bob regaled the lodge with his time in Southey and his many family links, Bob’s father, grandfather and two uncles were founders of the lodge so Bob was on a 3 line whip to join at some point.

Bob’s record maybe be somewhat unique as he was initiated and raised by his father W.Bro Leonard Cole and passed by his uncle W.Bro Ronald Cole.

Completing a full year of ceremonies in 1972 as Worshipful Master his greatest triumph of the time was to get the members to agree a subscription increase to £5.50 !!

The family links continue to this day as Bob was well supported on the evening by his second cousins W.Bro Paul Matthews and W.Bro David Sage.

Bob has also been very fortunate to travel the world and is a member of the Zetland Lodge in Hong Kong. Fellow Zetland members, W.Bro Richard Cooper and W.Bro Robert Bull also shared the special occasion with Bob. Unfortunately the new NW Area Membership Officer W.Bro Robert Hughes was on a surprise holiday but was due to attend as he has a very special connection with Zetland Lodge, ask him when you see him !

Congratulations Bob a fantastic achievement !
