Wessex Lodge Installation Report

Friday the 25th April saw Wessex Lodge, Weston-super-Mare install their new Worshipful Master. Toby Hammond was installed by Jon Henderson, who had completed two years in the Chair; the second year being totally unexpected and with twelve hours notice! This is the fourth time Toby has been in the Chair, the previous time being 10 years ago in Somerset Provincial Grand Stewards. This year all the progressive offices, apart from the Senior Warden are held by ‘light blues’ which is a fantastic achievement for the lodge – which a few years ago was on the verge of returning its warrant.

The raffle at the Festive Board netted £350 for the new Master’s charity ‘Pawsable’ – a charity supporting the training of assistance and working dogs. This charity is very close to Toby’s heart because his daughter, who is partially wheelchair-bound has an assistance dog that looks after her needs every day. The charity will attend the Wessex Lodge Christmas meeting with some of their dogs in training to demonstrate what they can achieve.
