Odds on at Sylvanus
Recently, Sylvanus Lodge No.9741 put into execution the first part of their response to the 3rd Pillar of the Pro Grand Master’s 7-year strategy ‘community engagement’, by getting out into their community of the Hunting, Shooting and Fishing Community. The Worshipful Master Craig Harding organised for the Lodge to Sponsor the 5th Race of the Holnicote Point to Point close to Minehead. This generated plenty of positive publicity for the Lodge with mentions in the magazines, websites and social media associated with the sport both nationally and locally.

Most importantly, the members, friends and family who attended had an absolutely cracking day out. Which in the morning started at Minehead Masonic Hall where the Lodge had its regular meeting and received its second Member Challenge Presentation from the Assistant Provincial Grand Master Russell K Woodland. Who congratulated the Worshipful Master and the members on their public relations endeavours.

In true day out at the races style, a traditional brunch followed the meeting overlooked by the portrait of the Exmoor hart hung on the wall of the dining room. Before everyone headed to the races in the afternoon.
At the races, a picnic of nibbles and light refreshments was set up next to one of the member’s cars. This provided a top-quality vantage point to spectate the races from whilst enjoying a glass of something cold. Everyone was lucky enough to have a winner or two.

The Worshipful Master and the Charity Steward then presented the Prizes to winning Jockey, Trainer and Owner of the 5th Race.
