Somerset Farmers Install New Master

The Somerset Farmers’ Lodge recently held their ceremony of Installation, in which Barry Horsgood, now Worshipful Brother Horsgood, was proudly installed into the chair of King Solomon for the first time by the outgoing Master David Hutchins. The Immediate Past Master David, presided over an excellent year, with many memorable moments for the Lodge. These include ceremonies in all three degrees, receiving the traveling trowel, and a visit from 22 members of Sodbury Vale Lodge.

The night was well attended – a reflection of the respect which is held for the new Master, Barry within the craft – with Langport’s intimate Hanging Chapel becoming something of a tight squeeze.

During the ceremony, Bro Edward Keirle presented the Master Mason’s tools to the new Master, completing the Provincial Grand Masters Working Tools Challenge, and was presented with a badge for his accomplishment by the Provincial Grand Master’s representative Rob Hughes, Provincial Junior Grand Warden.

In true Farmers’ fashion, a vibrant festive board followed, with many good words said, new friendships made, and old ones renewed. All the members of the Somerset Farmers’ Lodge wish our new Master well for the coming year and thank him for all he has done for the Lodge over the years.
