St CECILIA ON SONG FOR SSAFA
Members of Somerset’s very own musical lodge St Cecilia hit just the right note at their recent meeting in Wedmore. Brethren and their ladies were treated to a most interesting and informative presentation on the origins and works of the WM’s chosen charity for the year, the Soldiers’, Sailors’, and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA), given by Mrs Pauline Homeshaw, the Publicity Officer for SSAFA Somerset.
As a token of appreciation for her time and attendance, the Worshipful Master, Chris Marchmont presented Mrs Homeshaw with a magnificent donation to SSAFA funds of £1,155. This comprised Lodge funds, the proceeds of a most entertaining game of Heads and Tails, and the Lodge record proceeds for one evening’s raffle.
A musical Festive Board was enjoyed by all, with both Graces, Absent Brethren, Visitors’ song and Tyler’s song all being given hearty voice by those present.
