Two’s Company – Three’s an Historic Event!
At their February meeting, the historic Royal Cumberland Lodge made history by initiating three candidates in one ceremony.
Ben, Dennis and Jan were initiated into the Antient and Honourable institution.
Not since the early 19th Century has such a ceremony been performed by the lodge, thus rendering the trio significant figures in its long history.

It was a masterpiece of floor work and co-ordination for which Bath’s capacious Masonic Hall provided ample space. It was only made possible by the organisational skills of the Worshipful Master, Matthew Martin, his Director of Ceremonies and others. All the participants did a fine job.
A special mention must be made of Brother Ross, who gave an excellent delivery of The Charge to the Initiate – usually the preserve of the lodge elders and long-serving members.
There were many visitors who witnessed the spectacle, both local masons and from further afield. They included newly initiated Entered Apprentices (one of whom was initiated only two days previously at Elizabethan Lodge, Bath’s youngest lodge), to Grand Officers and those with many years in the craft under their belts, one having served for over 60 years!

It was good to see the hall filled to near capacity. 50 members sat down to dine at the festive board.
All those who took part, as well as the initiates themselves, should be very proud of their efforts.
We welcome our new brothers into The Craft and hope they enjoy long and fulfilling Masonic careers.
