Music 4 MS Quiz at Wells Raises Over £1100 For Mendip MS Charity.
Somerset Freemasons supported the local branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society at their recent annual ‘Music 4 MS’ quiz night, held on Saturday 22nd April, in Wells.
For the last ten years ‘Mendip MS’ have held a fun music quiz at the Tramways Social Club, hosted by ‘legendary’ local quizmaster Clive Hennessy.
As usual, the evening was a sell-out with the maximum allowed 16 teams competing for the honours.
Mendip MS is a charity, run by volunteers and dependent on donations and fund-raising events such as the quiz. This year’s target was £1000. The money raised goes towards funding art and exercise classes as well as social events and transport to assist members who are affected by this terrible condition.
This year’s quiz had a surprise – at the halfway stage, quizmaster Clive asked Sally Morgan (from Mendip MS) to join him on stage where he made a presentation of £250 from the members of the Pilgrims Lodge in Glastonbury. He also explained that in addition to the Pilgrims’ donation, the regional headquarters had also decided to ‘chip in’ with another £125. Therefore, on behalf of Somerset Freemasons, Clive was happy to make a total donation of £375.
The quiz ended on the happiest of notes with everyone laughing, singing and even dancing!
The total amount raised on the evening, including the masons’ donation, was £1120 (well above the £1000 target). Many thanks to all who supported the event and made it a huge success.
