Corinthian Pillar Christmas meeting.
At the usual Christmas meeting of Corinthian Pillar Lodge in Yeovil, always held on the third Friday in December, 60 members and visitors filled the Temple to watch the Past Masters perform an Initiation Ceremony. The Chair was taken by the Lodge secretary Alan Holton who was also the Past Deputy Grand Superintendent of the Royal Arch, along with many other senior members of the Lodge, with a combined service of around 350 years.
The candidate, Jake Reynolds is a serving member of the Fleet Air Arm, who said he thoroughly enjoyed the night, as he was welcomed into Freemasonry in admirable fashion.
The Lodge was also honoured by several distinguished guests, in particular the PGM Ray Guthrie who is also the Grand Superintendent of the Royal Arch – a busy man indeed! Ray was pleased to be able to present a Grand Superintendent Award to Richard Stone, the Lodge DC and Past Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies for the Provincial Grand Chapter of Somerset, for his outstanding service to Provincial Grand Chapter of Somerset, one of only 16 ever awarded. Richard was obviously delighted to receive such an award, wearing the lapel pin with pride at the Festive Board.
The usual Christmas meal was enjoyed by everyone including the usual enthusiastic carol singing afterwards, and the now famous auction of the “Ken Sherring Hamper”, which along with the raffle raised nearly £500.
