Yeovil Masonic Veterans & Friends >Christmas meeting.
The Yeovil Masonic Veterans & Friends (The Yeovil Vets) meet on the first or second Friday of the month at The Bell Inn, Preston Road, Yeovil for an informal get together and to enjoy lunch.
The group was started some years ago by the late W.Bro Tony Robins, his idea was to give older brethren who perhaps are no longer able to get to Lodge meetings, an opportunity to meet up during the day. The group organiser is now W.Bro David Rockey who is helped by his wife Ann and Mrs Jill Gegg, wife of W.Bro John Gegg.
Arriving early for the meeting on the 9th December, Ann and David were very pleased to find Ron Parsons together with Steve and Patsy Frost already seated and Ron already indulging in his big breakfast! Soon after, having managed to de-ice their car, the ever reliable Jill Gegg with husband John arrived. Jill had hardly begun marking the register when we were privileged to welcome two special visitors, Hazel and Ray Guthrie who had travelled from High Littleton to join us with Ray quite resplendent in a Christmas shirt which befitted the festive season. Rory White was next to appear closely followed by our other regulars, Roy and Wendy Morley and finally we were delighted to welcome Barbara and Stan Hill. All those present clearly enjoyed the pleasure of a relaxed luncheon gathering where a convivial atmosphere prevailed.
There were a few ‘regulars’ who couldn’t make it for various reasons. Steve Defries who was attending a funeral, John & Jill Hawkins as John had another appointment also at mid-day. Ken and Norman Crang, the latter suffering with a painful trapped nerve in his back. Hopefully they can join us for our next meeting at the Bell Inn, from 11.30am on Friday 13th January.
