Les Pickersgill – Provincial Photographer
Les was initiated into Tynte Lodge in 2018 and has since become a very active member, taking over the role as Assistant Secretary and Dining Steward. He joined the Army as a young entrant and after graduating from the Army College he spent 12 years with the Signals, travelling all over the world, visiting many countries helping to keep the communication lines open.
After leaving the Army, Les became a Civil Servant, working in the Communications department, which for obvious reasons, he cannot say too much about it. Les then retired after 43 years service to Crown and Country.
He took up photography as a hobby whilst in the Army and such a talent for it, that he was asked to take the official pictures of Senior Officers at Parades as well as Official Marches. This love of Photography has continued over the years, specialising in Nature, interesting structures and buildings.
Les was recently interviewed by BBC Radio Somerset about his photography and how it all began.
Les was asked to become the Official Photographer for the Province of Somerset in October this year, where he can be seen at the events taking pictures, many of which can be seen here on the Provincial Website. He says he enjoys his Masonry and is looking forward to many years in the craft. A Proud Mason indeed.
