Taunton Lodges Supporting The Taunton SMFA.
This week’s meeting of Emergency Services 9391 in Taunton saw the initiation of a candidate and a very generous donation to the Taunton branch of the Somerset Masonic Friendship Association (SMFA). Graeme Clark, the Worshipful Master, presented a cheque for £100 to Charlie Barker, the Provincial Co-ordinator for SMFA. The next night, Charlie was at it again, this time receiving a donation of £75 from the members of the Vivary Lodge 8654, also in Taunton – who incidentally had also performed an initiation that night. Richard Wilson, the Worshipful Master, presented the cheque at the Festive Board (once the ink on the cheque had dried!) much to the pleasure of the many brethren assembled.
The Taunton branch of the SMFA is especially active, with social activities including coffee mornings at Taunton Masonic Hall, trips out and an upcoming Christmas lunch for over 60 diners. The branch, like all SMFA branches, aims to be self-sufficient but support from local Masonic units is always very much appreciated, as it helps them to keep down the costs to members.
