Taunton Masonic CentreTour De Temples

Allez Les Franc Maçons!

Day 1 of “Le Tour des Temples”, and the SMCA peloton rolled in to Taunton Masonic Hall at 12:45.  Absolutely not a race, they had initially set off from Minehead at 8:00 am that morning, some 40 miles away as the wheel rolls.  The total 4-day route, compiled by Mike Norman, is described by the riders as “simply excellent”

This leg however, was “just” from Wellington, and the 14 intrepid riders were very grateful for a water refill and a comfort break.

After a short pit-stop (is that what cyclists do?) the group were on the road again, now to Langport.  All fears that they had peaked too early were dissipated by the restorative value of a cuppa, laid out in advance by Hayley, the Taunton Masonic Hall manager.  Ed Richings and Chris Partridge were also on hand.

The Tour is fundraising for 3 charities :  Designability, Life Cycle UK and On Your Bike, all charities using bikes and cycling as ways to meet the challenges of disability and social exclusion. The target is to reach £15,000. The QR Code below will take you to their “Just giving” page, which will accept donations from you as an individual or from your Lodge.

The team’s exclusive support vehicle, expertly piloted by David Maddern!!

Day 2 (Saturday 7th) is Ilminster to Frome, a route of 75 miles!!!!
