On Thursday 14th April 2022, the new Provincial Team, led by VW. Bro. Ben Batley, visited the Lodge at Wincanton in order to carry out the re-dedication of the Lodge’s Banner.
The Banner dates from 1863 and was certainly ready for some much-needed care and attention, which was scheduled to be carried out during 2021.
W.Bro Peter Parsons, PJGD, and PPrSGW of Staffordshire, visited during that year because a number of his relatives had been members of the Lodge.
During that visit, he discovered that the Banner was away for conservation and immediately offered to pay for that work to be done. This was not inconsiderable sum!
The culmination of Peter’s wonderful generosity was the Banner re-dedication carried out by the new team.
The Lodge was delighted to present W.Bro Peter with a specially prepared booklet (researched by W.Bro. Rod Allen) outlining the history of the Lodge, as well as his five relatives who had previously been members.
The Lodge is lucky enough to still be in possession of a photo of Peter’s father, as WM of 473 in 1933. This was also reproduced in the booklet.
It was a wonderful evening for visitors and members alike!
