Priory Lodge helps local Scout groups.

W.Bro Richard Irwin decided he wanted to help scout groups with proceeds from raffles and events during his year in the chair, or two years as it turned out! Bro Steve Jones, the Lodge Chaplain and Almoner also has connections with the scouts having served served 25 years as a Scouting leader. Together our intrepid duo presented a cheque for £300 from Priory Lodge to WBro Chris Hodgkins for Fromeside Explorer Scout Unit, meeting in Kingswood. Chris is a member of a Lodge in Bristol and has been a leader at Fromeside for over 35 years. WBro Chris was delighted with this gift and said the timing couldn’t have been better, it will enable the purchase of new equipment that will help over 30 young members to enjoy outdoor activities this. W Bro Hodgkins  thanked everyone at Priory Lodge and visitors for their support.

WBro Ricard and Bro Steve went on to present another cheque from Priory Lodge, this time for £425 to 66th John’s Scouts in Fishponds. This will help purchase new tents that are desperately required for their camps this year. Scout Leader Dave Higham thanked members of Priory Lodge for this kind donation and said it’s really appreciated! Bro Jones afterwards gave a short talk about what Freemasons do, comparing the many similarities between the two organisations, the young people were genuinely interested.  We wish them many happy scouting experiences with their equipment and look forward to hearing how the get on.

Steve hands over the second cheque to Dave Higham surrounded by members of 66th St John’s scouts.

Thanks to Richard Irwin for submitting this item, he is camera shy, preferring to be behind the lens!
