St Cecilia Receive the Travelling Trowel

The Travelling Trowel for the Central Area has almost completed its latest journey around the Province.

On 28th February Keith Baker, Worshipful Master of Birnbeck Lodge Number No 7160, supported by a good number of Birnbeck Brethren, presented the Travelling Trowel to the Worshipful Master of St Cecilia Lodge Number No 9341 at Wedmore.

All of the Brethren enjoyed a the meeting, in which the Lodge was opened in all 3 degrees and various items of ritual from each were presented.

At the Festive Board the customary St Cecilia singing was resumed after a long Covid period of almost silence!

The proceeds from the raffle have been donated to the British Red Cross to enable essentials to be sent to Poland for refugees from Ukraine.

Travelling Trowel

The Somerset Travelling Trowel Scheme was Introduced in 2012 as an attempt to foster closer links by encouraging fraternal visits between Lodges. It has proved very popular with Lodge members.

The aims of the scheme:

  1. To encourage a wider sphere of visiting between Somerset lodges and increase masonic links and friendships.
  2. To bring the Province closer together by fostering a spirit of mutual support and fraternity.
  3. To encourage less experienced Masons to visit other Lodges.
  4. The scheme will also help to support those Lodges that are perhaps small in Membership as well as those who receive relatively low numbers of visitors.
