Thank You, Ma’am from the Province of Somerset
Today, Freemasons of Somerset, and all over the United Kingdom, congratulate HRH Queen Elizabeth II on becoming the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
Her Majesty was born into royalty as the daughter of the second son of King George V. After her uncle Edward VIII abdicated in 1936 (subsequently becoming Duke of Windsor), her father became King George VI, and she became heir presumptive. Elizabeth assumed the title of queen upon her father’s death in 1952.
Freemasons and the Royal Family. have a long and historic connection! The Duke of Kent has been the Ruler of English Freemasons since 1967. He is first cousin to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. His uncle, King George VI, was also a Grand Master in Freemasonry
