Somewhere to Go

The Somewhere to go day centre in Weston super Mare is a charity that supports homeless and vulnerable people in the Town. It offers them a place to enjoy a meal and get help, support and advice on a range of services. There is also the opportunity to have a chance to just meet with others.

The St Kew Lodge in Weston super Mare selected this as a very valuable Charity to support following a year of limited fundraising.

They saw several opportunities, the first when Lisa Cooper, the General Manager of the charity, met with Bro John Harrop of the Lodge when he delivered nearly £1000.00 pounds worth of commercial kitchen equipment for them.

This equipment will be used when they have finished renovations on the lower floor of their building to make it more user friendly for those using the facilities, including the disabled. They will also enable them to do training courses, including those in basic food hygiene.

The lodge also provided financial support to the Charity, firstly when W Bro Sandy Glen handed a cheque for £260 to Lisa, who this time was accompanied by Barry Edwards, their treasurer. Then again later when W Bro Ben Ambler & Jenny presented another cheque on behalf of the lodge for £380.00 raised at a Christmas meeting where Ben took the chair as Master of the lodge for the evening, when he then donated the raffle & charity Christmas card monies to this charity.
