The strength and support of our order

WBro Roy Hayward PPrJGW having been Initiated into St Alphege Lodge on 2ndOctober 1971 was pleased to receive his 50th Certificate from the PGM recently.

Roy spent 25 years as a police officer with Bath City Police before leaving to join British Gas, for another 19 years of employment.

He lives independently at home in Bath but with plenty of support from his family, who are nearby, when needed.

His son, WBro David Hayward PPrGReg, having been Initiated into St Alphege Lodge exactly 10 years after his father, was also able to celebrate his 40thAnniversary at the same time. Recently retired from a long career in the hospitality profession, for several years David managed the external hirings for Bath Masonic Hall, bringing in much needed additional revenue.

Furthermore, during the pandemic the under-privileged of Bath and surrounding area have been fortunate indeed to receive over 35,000 two-course Square-Meals, produced by David’s son, Ben Hayward.

St Alphege Lodge has benefitted greatly from strong family ties and the example set by Roy, of a selfless commitment to serving the community, has demonstrably been passed on from generation to generation.
