SMFA Taunton Enjoy Their Jubilee Party at Foxes Academy, Minehead.
Taunton branch SMFA had a very successful, happy and fun Jubilee party at Foxes Academy in Minehead. The group hired a minibus with local company A2B with Sandie, and with a generous donation from a member towards the cost, the Taunton to Minehead and return was just £5 per person. A2B picked up 7 on the way to The Crescent, where she picked-up another 9. Another 12 travelled independently by car. There was a minor hiccup setting off without two members, but a quick return to base found them patiently waiting outside the Masonic Hall – this is why coaches, aeroplanes and Brown Owls always do a head check before setting off! Arriving at Foxes academy, the party were very warmly welcomed by the students, showing everybody to their seats.

Some of the group had been persuaded to wear home-made crowns and Rebecca, one of the students at the Academy, picked her favourite crown which she then wore with pride throughout service. She presented the winner, W Bro Adrian Halliwell, with a handcrafted crown containing a chocolate orange. Margaret May, most senior member at 96, also looked resplendent in her crown.
The food was excellent quality, beautifully presented and enjoyed by everyone. A small jubilee-themed raffle was well received by the winners for their £1 ticket. No prizes though for the Royal themed quiz, results of which were discussed on the journey home.

The Taunton Masonic Hall is closed for a while during the summer break for redecorating. The group’s next meeting is on Wednesday 6th July and will hopefully be a coffee morning at Lynn Evans’ home.
